Museum Library has a vast collection of Nabokov editions in different languages and a collection of books and articles by leading Nabokov scholars.
The Nabokov Library is a collection of Nabokov materials, built through generous donations of books by collectors, scholars and publishers. It is aiming at becoming the first-rate reference library for Nabokov scholars and other researchers.
The Library placed in the large room in the memorial part of the Museum that served the Nabokovs both as a reading room and a space for boxing and fencing exercises.
The place combined pleasantly the scholarly and the athletic, the leather of books and the leather of boxing gloves. Fat armchairs stood along the book-lined walls. An elaborate punching ball affair purchased in England four steel posts supporting the board from which the pear-shaped striking bag hung gleamed at the end of the spacious room, Nabokov wrote in Speak, Memory.
In addition to accommodation the collection, the Library also was used as a place for friendly gatherings and home literary events. Guests of the Nabokovs included politicians, writers, musicians, and other celebrities. Vladimir Nabokov remembered meeting H. G. Wells there.
Museum Library is open to all Nabokov readers and scholars free of charge. For details on access, location and hours please contact Museum staff.
